I hope all is well. The weather hasn’t been favourable lately, we do hope it improves soon as we would like to see some lovely sunshine back
You would have by now received an email from Grassroots informing you in the change of RCM that happened in April when Carys stepped down from her role, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank Carys for all her hard work whilst being the Wales RCM.
Plans for 2023 /2024
As your new RCM we are in need of further events planning therefore I trust those who want to get involved will take the time to read the report further and let me know your thoughts.
Jacob Show & Sale 2023
A new date has been organised for 2023. Due to time running away and the need to get organised we have decided to move the sale to a Saturday to run alongside another sheep sale at the venue, The Sale will be held this year on Saturday 16th September at Monmouth Livestock centre, NP15 2BH John Dixon has agreed to judge the Jacobs, and Mark Wakelin and Jackie Jones will inspect with Jean Simmons as adjudicator. Open day 2023
We have no open day planned for this year yet, but I’d really like to get an open day planned along with a judges’ seminar if it can be arranged in time. If any members would like to offer us an open day 2023/2024 to see their Jacob sheep flock then please get in touch with me and we can discuss further what we would need on the day.

Flock competition & judges assessment October 2023
A flock competition will be held on the 28th & 29th October when the judges will be Arwel Jones and Jackie Jones. if you would like to enter this year’s flock competition please let me know. It is open to all Wales members and both new and established flocks are welcome to enter.

AGM Meeting and Prize presentation lunch
The Wales Region annual prize presentation and AGM is usually held early December where we also have our dinner. I will get this all confirmed and let members know in due course
Wales National AGM 2024
Dates for your diary – April 26th 27th 28th 2024 are the dates for the Wales Region to host the official Jacob Sheep Society’s National AGM in 2024. Plans have already started and the hotel is booked – The Parkway Hotel, Cwmbran. We have flocks happy to host visits over the weekend. If you want to be involved in organising this event alongside the small committee already formed at the last meeting please get in touch. We hope the meetings will run with the other events planned in the region and in group chats as help will be required in the lead up to the weekend. We will post more details as it comes together
Method of keeping in Touch
We have a Wales region Facebook page called ‘JACOB SHEEP SOCIETY WALES ‘ and
we also have a private group on Facebook which is open to Wales members only – Jacob Sheep Society Wales Group. Regular updates will be available here, and you can also contact me via messenger. We have an old group that was set up on messenger a while ago and I use this for instant communication so if you would like to be added then please let me know. My contact details are as follows: Mobile 07816440851 or text /whatsapp /calls I will use Grassroots email as another mean of communication when we have further region updates .
Feel free to contact me regarding any of the above or for general sheep talk. I also work away from the farm therefore am not able to answer calls/reply instantly to messages all the time, so please leave a message and I’ll return your call/messages when I can.
